Module 6, Lesson 3
Prerequisites: Lesson 6.2 — Template Optimization Agent
Estimated time: 6 minutes
What You'll Learn
- How to navigate the Analytics Dashboard and its three tabs
- What Time Analytics, Edit Patterns, and Provider Wellness measure
- How to use burnout metrics for provider wellness monitoring
The Analytics Dashboard
The Analytics Dashboard gives you data-driven insights into your documentation efficiency, editing behavior, and provider wellness. Navigate to it from the left sidebar. The page header highlights three key focus areas with feature pills: AI Optimization, Time Analytics, and Burnout Prevention.
The dashboard has three tabs:
Tab 1: Time Analytics
The Time Analytics tab displays detailed metrics about how long you spend on documentation. It uses the Edit Analytics Dashboard component to show:
- Average documentation time per note — How long it takes you to finalize a note after the AI generates it.
- Total edits and time saved from optimization — See exactly how much time your improved templates are saving you over each period.
- Time trends over periods — See how your documentation speed has changed over time, helping you measure the impact of template optimizations.
- Session-by-session breakdowns — Drill into individual sessions to understand where time is spent.
This tab is your primary tool for measuring whether the AI Template Optimization Agent is saving you time. As your templates improve, you should see documentation times decrease.
Note: If “time saved” shows 0s at first, that is normal. It increases as the optimization engine learns from your edits.
Tab 2: Edit Patterns
The Edit Patterns tab visualizes your editing behavior using a Documentation Heat Map. This shows:
- Which sections you edit most — If you consistently edit the Assessment section, that is a signal your template needs improvement there.
- Edit intensity by template — The heatmap highlights which templates benefit most from optimization, so you can prioritize your improvement efforts.
- Edit frequency by day and time — See when you are doing the most documentation work.
- Pattern clusters — Identify groups of related edits that might indicate a systemic template issue.
Below the heatmap, Key Insights call out your most edited templates and most common edit types, giving you a focused list of where to start optimizing.
The heat map is a visual companion to the Template Optimization Agent. Where the agent makes automated suggestions, the heat map gives you the raw data to make your own informed decisions about template improvements.
Tab 3: Provider Wellness
The Provider Wellness tab focuses on burnout prevention metrics. This is a unique feature that treats provider well-being as a measurable outcome:
- Documentation load — Total hours spent on documentation, compared against healthy benchmarks.
- After-hours and weekend work — Tracks how often you document outside normal hours, a key burnout indicator.
- Consecutive days active — Flags extended streaks of documentation work without breaks.
- Average edit duration per session — Unusually long sessions may indicate burnout risk or workflow inefficiency.
- Work pattern heatmap — Shows when patient encounters cluster throughout your week, helping you visualize documentation load distribution.
- Trend analysis — See whether your documentation burden is increasing or decreasing over time.
The wellness metrics are not about surveillance — they are designed to help you recognize when your documentation workload is becoming unsustainable and take proactive steps to address it, whether through template optimization, delegation, or workflow changes.
Quick Tips
- Check the Time Analytics tab weekly to track your documentation efficiency trend.
- If the Edit Patterns heat map shows heavy editing in a specific section, consider adding global instructions for that section in the Template Optimization Agent.
- Share the Provider Wellness metrics with your practice administrator to advocate for workflow improvements when needed.
