Macros are a time-saving tool in DeepCura that help you add pre-written sections into your notes quickly.

Instead of typing the same phrases over and over, you can use macros to insert common information with just a click or a simple command.

Examples of Macros in Use:

  1. Procedure Definition Macro:
"The procedure involves [insert procedure steps] and has been explained to the patient in detail."
  2. Consent Taken Macro:
"Informed consent was obtained after explaining the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure."

But there are two types of macros: AI Macros and Non-AI Macros. Let's look at how they work, using the example of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), which requires informed consent.

    • What is a Macro? A macro is like a shortcut for phrases you use often in your notes. It’s pre-written text that can be inserted into your notes with a simple command, saving you time.
    • What is a Trigger Phrase? A trigger phrase is a special keyword that activates the AI macro. It’s like telling the system, “Hey, insert this section now!”
    • Setting It Up: Inside the AI Template Maker, scroll down to AI Macro. Add your trigger phrase (e.g., “delta ECT Consent”) and the consent details you want to include. Once set up, this process becomes automatic during patient interactions.
    • How It Works: For AI macros, you use a trigger phrase that DeepCura recognizes. Once you've had the discussion and obtained informed consent from the patient, you simply say or type the trigger phrase, like "delta ECT Consent".
    • What Happens Next: When you trigger the phrase, DeepCura will automatically insert the consent description into your note. It will look like this: "The patient has been fully informed about ECT, including potential risks, side effects, and benefits. The patient had the opportunity to ask questions and has provided informed consent."
    • Setting It Up: In the AI Template Playground, you can create a Non-AI Macro. Title it (e.g., "ECT Consent Template") and enter the consent information. Once this is done, you can easily select it from the list and insert it when needed.
    • How It Works: Instead of using a trigger phrase, you manually select a pre-designed macro template.
    • What Happens Next: You’ll find a pre-written ECT Consent macro in your list of templates, and by selecting it, DeepCura will insert the consent text into your patient’s note. For example: "Informed consent was obtained after explaining the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure."

Key Differences Between AI and Non-AI Macros:

AI Macros Non-AI Macros
You use a trigger phrase to activate the macro during recording You manually select the macro from a list of pre-designed templates after  recording

DeepCura automatically inserts the pre-written content into your note when the trigger phrase is used.

The selected macro is inserted into your note only when you manually choose it.

By using these macros, you can speed up your note-taking, reduce errors, and ensure consistency in your documentation — ultimately giving you more time to focus on your patients.
